Gold Medal for Tar & Roses 2013 Sangiovese at the Adelaide Wine Show
Cherry red with pink hues in colour. This wine combines black licorice and fennel on the nose with dusty roast beetroot character and mouth filling tannin to deliver a rich complex wine. Sweet cherries and hints of pomegranate tartness on the palate it would match beautifully with a salad of fennel and radicchio and barbecued pork fillet.
What a Great Weekend!
Aptly summed up by the Heathcote Winegrowers Association...
Heathcote has staged a stunning celebration of the wine industry with thousands of people toasting the famous local product at the weekend’s wine and food festival. Organisers say up to 4500 people from across Australia and overseas flocked to Heathcote Showgrounds for the town’s biggest weekend of the year. Read More >>
2012 Sangiovese wins Gold Medal
We are pleased to announce that the Tar & Roses 2012 Sangiovese won a gold medal at the 2013 Australian Alternative Wine Varieties Show.
2012 Sangiovese Release
A pomegranate fruit lift plus enticing and spicy bay leaf characters is what you’ll find in our recently released 2012 Sangiovese. Possessing strong varietal characters with attractive individuality, this wine will complement many savoury dishes over the coming summer months.
Tony Keys has reviewed two of our wines in June's The Key Report. Our 2010 Shiraz scored 97 points, and our 2011 Tempranillo scored 94 points!
2012 Pinot Grigio Release
Pale salmon in colour with rockmelon and ripe pears on the nose, our 2012 PIG is now on sale. Once again the wine is a combination of higher altitude vineyards blended with some warmer vineyard fruit. The result: a wine with lovely delicate aromatics combined with mouth filling texture and flavours. Vintage, although at times reminiscent of 2011, with the untimely rainfall was generally finer and warmer overall and quite condensed with our first fruit picked on the 23 February, compared with the 19 March in the previous year. Our last fruit was picked on the 29 March, making 2012 one of the earliest vintages of the last few years.
Despite an early start, the warmer weather enabled the fruit to obtain good flavour ripeness and we are very happy with the final wine. We hope you enjoy the results.
