2011 Tempranillo
This is an attractively fresh young wine which is perfumed and shows hints of licorice. Although the palate shows obvious clean acid on the finish, the fruit is light but lively. Excellent Value.

2010 Tempranillo
The star of the recent Tempraneo roadshow, if this is what mature vines in cool places can do for this variety in Australia, we have much to look forward to.

2010 Tempranillo
Bright crimson-red; as pure an expression of Tempranillo as you are likely to find, with a silky swirl of red cherry blossom and fruit that seems to have no end on the palate. No need to wait, although will not lose its charm anytime soon.

Tar & Roses 2010 Tempranillo
Don Lewis and Narelle King blended fruit from Victoria's Alpine and Heathcote regions to produce a rich and flavoursome example of this Spanish variety, There's red and dark berry fruit on the nose and palate, with subdued oak and fine, chalky tannins on the finish, it a good match with Mediterranean-influenced lamb dishes and has the structure to gain further complexity in the bottle over the next five years, $24

Tar & Roses Alpine Valleys/ Heathcote Tempranillo 2010 ($23.50)
Ripe, with florals, spice, black cherries and a sweet fruit core. Lots of grip, with finely crafted tannins. Good length. Made by Don Lewis (ex-Mitchelton) and Narelle King

Victoria’s pre-eminent tempranillo exponents have taken fruit from across their state to finely craft it into a fresh, blueberry and spice flavoured pleasure that is mostly about its potential at the table. Its crunchy and neatly grippy in the mouth, and has lots of texture and savoury garden-herb notes which will best bring out the bold Mediterranean notes in a bowl of chorizo and tomato braise.

Tar & Roses tempranillo 2010 ($24)
This is a most impressive tempranillo from Central Victoria showing the adaptability of this Spanish variety. It is deep and intense with rich, dark fruit concentration, the result of very low yields in this vintage. The palate has a sweet middle yet the dry, arid finish is typical of the variety. Lovely oak treatment and fine, firm tannins hold it precisely and long. Excellent food wine over the coming years. Perfect with chorizo.
